With its solid maple center block, arched top, f-holes, and chambered wings, the ES-335 (introduced in 1958) gave the player the resonance of a solidbody and the refined looks of a traditional Gibson archtop with the reduced weight of a thinline. In mid-1962, the ES-335 was changed to include the thinner neck profile that was standard for Gibson in the 60’s as well as small block inlays on the fingerboard.

Years ago B.C. Rich introduced the 10-string guitar to the world. Revolutionary in that it had the typical 6-string headstock, but it had an additional 4 strings that terminated in reverse at the headstock and went to tuners on the end of the body. Due to its totally huge sound and construction, the B.C. Rich 10-string has been seen on rock stages adorning pros such as Slash and Joe Perry. However until now, these 10-string instruments were only offered as Handcrafted B.C. Rich instruments. The B.C. Rich Bich 10 has all the same sonic features of the Exotic Classic Bich 10 – which means that you get the same great Bich 10 wall of sound wrapped in understated clothing. Features include a basswood body, ebony fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets, B.C. Rich Quad bridge and two high-output Rockfield Mafia pickups. Sorry, case not included.How does a 10-string work?Played like a regular 6-string guitar, the basic principal of the 10-string guitar is much like a 12-string. The highest two strings are tuned in unison, the middle two strings are tuned in octaves and the lowest two strings are single and do not have the upper octave strings. By leaving the low two strings single, it allows the player to get a normal distortion tone without confusing and canceling the signal. When playing full chords it creates a serious wall of sound. The doubled strings are also handy for thickening cleaner passages much like a 12-string. Leave it to B.C. Rich to creatively run the additional 4 strings in the opposite direction starting in the headstock and terminating with the four extra tuners conveniently and strategically mounted in the Bichs unique cutaway body shape. This feature makes it immediately evident which tuners are used for the double strings.

Measuring a mere 18-19mm thick, the UltraLux’s neck still benefits from Hagstrom’s H-Expander truss rod and Resinator fretboard for stability and reliability. The Viking IIP is based on the original red Viking that helped “The King” stage his legendary comeback. The Viking IIP features the super thin, fast Ultralux bolt-on neck for fretboard acrobatics and smooth tone. With a Basswood body and a Maple neck, as well as distinctive Pearl Dot inlays on the Resinator fretboard, the Viking IIP features Hagstrom 15:1 die cast tuners, 24.75 inch scale length, 2 x Hagstrom custom H90 nickel covered pickups, a 3-way toggle, and a long travel T-O-M bridge with Hagstrom Stop tail piece. The H-Expander Truss Rod provides tension at either end and running the entire length of the neck. The rigid yet lightweight alloy truss rod allows for a very low action and thin neck, two factors that were instrumental in earning Hagstrom its reputation as the world’s fastest playing guitar.
